Congratulations, Maryland! (August 2025)

Maryland is stepping boldly into the future with the launch of Longevity Ready Maryland (LRM), the much-anticipated plan to prime the state for a growing population of older adults and guide us toward a more inclusive future. Built on more than two years of research and collaboration that began in 2023, the launch represents a major milestone in Maryland’s journey to become a national model in longevity-readiness.

Longevity Ready Maryland is a collaborative, long-term plan that aims to support the work of service providers by consolidating resources; coordinating efforts across government, businesses, and communities; and transforming systems of care to more sustainably accommodate a greater number of older Marylanders. To advance the objectives of the plan, the Maryland Department of Aging will work to encourage collaboration between state agencies, support local initiatives, and improve access to home- and community-based services.

The plan also includes a data dashboard, created by the Maryland Department of Planning, an innovative resource to help service providers and policymakers identify needs, anticipate trends, and measure outcomes that impact longevity in Maryland.

To support the plan, track implementation, and encourage stakeholder participation, the state has launched a new website that provides guidance, resources, and the full Longevity Ready Maryland plan.

LRM.Maryland.gov offers sector-specific resources to help local partners build longevity-resilience in key areas, consolidates important data to inform program development, and offers simple but effective ways that everyone can incorporate a longevity lens in the work they do. This dynamic platform will evolve in the years to come, highlighting emerging strategies and innovation, and incorporating contributions from state agencies, local organizations, and community partners to facilitate the cross-sector collaboration critical to the plan’s success.
