Just Updated: Paving the Way for Healthy Aging

This updated issue brief, authored by West Health, explores common elements across the 12 states with MPAs, as well as a typical timeline and development process. The brief also includes “state spotlights” that highlight key features unique to each individual plan. These one-page resources can be used for individuals looking to educate others about their state’s MPA, or for those in states without MPAs who are looking for examples from other states. Missouri Releases Draft MPA

On January 19, 2023, Governor Parson signed Executive Order 23-01 to establish a Master Plan on Aging to help reduce age and disability discrimination, eliminate barriers to safe and healthy aging, and help Missourians age with dignity. This Executive Order created an advisory council and tasked DHSS with the development of a plan by Dec. 31, 2025.

The Department of Health and Senior Services led the development of the Master Plan on Aging: Missourians Aging with Dignity. This two-and-a-half-year project included the input of over 10,000 Missourians and is meant to be a guiding document for policymakers, state and local governments, and local entities who want to prepare for the aging of the population.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services invites you to provide feedback on the draft Master Plan on Aging by submitting comments at the bottom of this page or by emailing MOStatePlanOnAging@health.mo.gov. The draft will be available for public comment until September 14, 2025. The final plan after public comments will be delivered to Governor Kehoe before December 31, 2025.
