Multisector Plan for Aging

Congratulations, Illinois (August, 2024)

Gov. Pritzker recently signed an Executive Order to begin a cross-sector planning process to outline a clear framework for addressing the needs of older adults, people with disabilities, and caregivers over the next decade. The Executive Order creates a new strategic position, the Chief Planning Officer, within the Illinois Department on Aging (IDoA). This position will lead the development and implementation of a multi-year Multi-Sector Plan for Aging (MPA).

The MPA will serve as a 10-year blueprint to support healthy aging in Illinois communities and set clear, measurable objectives for evaluating public and private sector progress toward this goal. The Chief Planning Officer will deliver the MPA to the Governor and General Assembly by Dec. 31, 2025, and an additional status report by Dec. 31, 2026. Read more here

Dallas listening session informs National Plan on Aging

Last week, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) held a listening session in Dallas, TX, to gather input from older adults on the four domains of the Strategic Framework for a National Plan on Aging. The listening session is part of several taking place this summer across the country, aimed at understanding what older adults – especially those with greatest social and economic need, want to see in the National Plan on Aging.

Provide input on the Strategic Framework for a National Plan on Aging

Don’t forget to submit your feedback on the Strategic Framework for a National Plan on Aging by September 15th. As part of the Community Engagement Collaborative, West Health has created two surveys (available in English and Spanish), for individuals and organizations to provide input on the framework. This is an opportunity to help shape the National Plan on Aging, and particularly for older adults to comment on what may be missing from the framework. Access the surveys here
