The American Society on Aging (ASA)’s annual conference – On Aging, will be held from March 25 – 28 in San Francisco. The conference will feature many exciting sessions, including several on MPAs. Closing Keynote: Building a National Movement for Aging with Health, Dignity, and Connection

Our leaders recognize the importance of strategic planning to support current and future generations of Americans, as we age. More than half of states are implementing or planning to implement comprehensive Multisector Plans for Aging. The federal government now seeks to build on this momentum by developing a strategic framework for a national plan on aging. In this session, hear from two leaders who are making this a reality.

Kim McCoy Wade will address California’s efforts across the past three years to implement its Master Plan for Aging. Kari Benson will update attendees on the Interagency Coordinating Committee on Healthy Aging and Age-Friendly Communities’ development of a strategic framework for a national plan on aging. McCoy Wade will be introduced by Shelley Lyford and Benson will be interviewed by Rani Snyder.

Executive Order: Developing a Multisector
Plan for Aging

Tuesday, March 26 | 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM, Grand Ballroom A

Statewide development of Multisector Plans for Aging (MPA) is booming, with eleven states passing legislation or receiving authorization, and many more pending. In this session, state leaders will share best practices for developing an MPA that breaks down silos and transforms systems to better support older adults and people with disabilities.

Better Together: Area Agencies on Aging as Key Partners in the Multisector Plan for Aging Development Process

Wednesday, March 27 | 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM, Franciscan B

Multisector Plans for Aging (MPA) use a cross-agency, cross-sector planning process to create a long-term, living blueprint for aging and disability services in the state. In this session, state agency and Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) leaders share key learnings from MPA development process in their state.
