New Toolkit for Developing MPAs in Rural Areas
The SCAN Foundation, in partnership with the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis, recently developed a toolkit designed to support rural community leaders anywhere, whether in plains, deserts, or mountain regions, in developing an MPA.
From January 2022 to December 2023, The SCAN Foundation launched a ‘Rural MPA Initiative’, supporting three coalitions to create local MPAs covering seven counties across California. During this initiative, the coalitions shared processes, templates, tools, and lessons learned, which have been compiled in this toolkit to aid other rural communities to develop MPAs. North Carolina Just Released their MPA Dashboard
North Carolina’s MPA data dashboard provides insights into aging-related data and statistics. It aims to create a holistic picture of individuals’ life experiences and potential needs, focusing on key areas such as demographics, health and well-being, economic security, social engagement, and community support.
In the next phase, the dashboard will be enhanced by incorporating metrics that align with each of the four topics and eight priorities of the All Ages, All Stages NC initiative. However, the current phase spotlights an in-depth view of North Carolina’s older population and demographic county-level dives, pulling from the Division of Aging’s aging profiles report.
This dashboard was created in partnership with the Division of Aging and the UNC Sheps Center for Health Services Research. Explore the dashboard here.
